Allan Dornan originally hails from Stirling in Scotland. His first experience of sailing, was in his father dinghy on the cold waters of the Scottish lochs, a favourite was Loch Lubnaig. There were a few catastrophes which could have put him off for life.

Angie Wallace

We first met Angie in Tonga when she was crewing on a friends boat. Ange was a visitor in Gulf harbour, New Zealand on her way back up to Bay of Islands and a trip up to Fiji.



Allan's son Callum Dornan, first joined Bagpuss in Lagos, Portugal and in the Grenadines. He has also sailed on Sea Breeze in the Norfolk Broads, Hobie cat in New Zealand and most recently Bella also in New Zealand.


Bev Dornan was brought up in Redcar, in the North East of England. When she got together with Allan in 2000, she had very little sailing experience. In her words, that consisted of being "deck fluff" on a charter sailing holiday with some friends.

Chris & Ben

Allan arranged for Chris and Ben, two UK based marine electricians, to come over to La Rochelle to help fit out Bagpuss with all her shiny new electronics and other goodies. They stayed with us for over a week and did a great job.
