1978 Suzuki GT50

I found myself without transport in 1983, and had the chance to pick up this bike at a good price, around £65 I recall.

It had innovations like a rev counter and front disk brake. It also had no pedals. It was a restricted 50cc and pretty slow, about 35mph flat out.

On a trip through town to go out on a school geology field trip, a car pulled across my path and I had to drop the bike and slid into the side of it. The backside was ripped out of my trousers and the bike took a bit of damage. I wasn't able to go on the field trip. The driver gave me £170 to settle for the damage to the bike. I remember thinking it was a fortune at the time.
